SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the agenda for the SANS Pen Test HackFest Summit & Training taking place November 2 - 9 in Crystal City, VA. This year's HackFest Summit features two days of leading talks from more than 20 experts, followed by six days of hands-on, immersion-style pen test training. Attendees also have the rare opportunity to participate in a night of CyberCity missions at no cost.

According to Summit Chair and SANS Institute Fellow, Ed Skoudis, "Every day brings new headlines of more brazen attacks. The HackFest Summit offers a unique opportunity to hear about the latest attack vectors and vulnerabilities as we focus on real-world, practical defenses to protect against this seemingly never-ending onslaught of attacks."

The HackFest Summit features an impressive line-up of speakers including Matt Linton, Chaos Specialist at Google, John Strand, Senior Security Analyst at Black Hills Information Security, Larry Pesce, Director of Research at InGuardians, James Lyne, Director of Technology Strategy at Sophos, and many more. The Summit also features two panel discussions, Offense Informs Defense and Offense Informs Forensics.

Additional highlights of the SANS Pen Test HackFest Summit & Training include:

  • Three nights of SANS' NetWars experience, where participants can work solo or in teams to compete in a simulated computer hacking competition.
  • One night of CyberCity training missions, where participants defend against simulated attacks against a physical 1:87 scale miniature model city. Players will have the opportunity to save the 15,000 fictional residents of CyberCity from nefarious attackers.
  • HackFest attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a secret field trip to an undisclosed location in Washington, D.C. Attendees will take part in custom-designed cipher and puzzle challenges and compete in teams against one another in a historical and symbolic sight in the nation's Capital.
