Title: Cisco Issues Security Advisories for Vulnerabilities Disclosed by the Shadow Brokers Description: Cisco has issued a pair of security advisories for two vulnerabilities disclosed by the Shadow Brokers. Both vulnerabilities, CVE-2016-6366 and CVE-2016-6367, target ASA and PIX devices. CVE-2016-6366 is a remote code execution vulnerability within the SNMP code of ASA software and could allow an attacker to "obtain full control of the system or to cause a reload of the affected system." CVE-2016-6367 is a known vulnerability that was patched in 2011. Cisco is currently developing a software update that will address CVE-2016-6366 for ASA devices (PIX devices are End-of-Life and are not supported). Network admins are strongly advised to employ mitigation strategies outlined in the bulletin to reduce the risk of compromise.

Title: Security Advisory for RNG Bug in Libgcrypt and GnuPG Issued Description: A security advisory for Libgcrypt and GnuPG has been issued in response to a bug researchers have identified in the random number generator (RNG). Researchers have "found a bug in the mixing functions of Libgcrypt's random number generator" where "an attacker who obtains 4640 bits from the RNG can trivially predict the next 160 bits of output." Developers note that despite the bug being present in all versions of Libgcrypt and GnuPG since 1998, that initial analysis suggests that "existing RSA keys are not weakened" and DSA and Elgmal keys are unlikely to be "predicted from other public information." Updated version of GnuPG and Libgcrypt have been released addressing this issue.
