Threat Spotlight: Cloud-Native Ransomware

Over the past few years, ransomware has become one of the defining cyber threats for organizations of all sizes. Adversaries have made one thing clear: no industry, organization, or asset type is safe from the potential threat of ransomware and extortion demands. Sure enough, as organizations have moved more of their infrastructures to the cloud and are now deploying software designed to capitalize on the inherent capabilities of the cloud, adversaries have followed, with attacks targeting cloud-native workloads and interconnected microservices.

In this webcast and corresponding Spotlight paper, we’re going to examine how ransomware can impact organizations and jeopardize their cloud-native assets. Given the rising trend of enterprise assets and services moving to the cloud, organizations would be remiss to not rethink their security, response and recovery strategy for cloud assets to an equal, and perhaps even higher, degree than their on-prem assets. There are multiple ways to approach both the problem and solution, including:

  • How visibility to cloud assets is critical to ransomware defense.
  • How to bolster prevention and detection approaches to protect cloud assets against ransomware and other types of TTPs.
  • How to augment response policies to include cloud assets, and find the similarities between a response to on-prem intrusions.
