A Case Study for Implementing IA Awareness Training

As part of implementing the Critical Security Controls, Consulting Firm X developed an Information Assurance Awareness training program aimed at better protecting proprietary and client data, and information systems. This presentation discusses how the program was developed and implemented to improve cybersecurity for the enterprise and stakeholders, and how other organizations can utilize this approach to strengthen security awareness.

Speaker Bio: John Dittmer has been a Cyber Defender since his early days in the US Navy back in the late 1980s. During his time in the Navy, John was an Information Assurance Officer, a Security Manager, a Base Security Officer, plus he managed the IT networks and message center for the Joint Task Force Noble Anvil during the Kosovo Campaign. As a government contractor, John has supported the DoD CIO, the DoN CIO, the Army CIO/G-6, the Office of Naval Research, the FBI, DISA, USCYBERCOM, and DHS. He is currently works as a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst for Professional Solutions LLC, supporting the DoD CIO. He is certified as a GLSC, GCED, GCCC, GLEG, CISSP-ISSMP, and a PMP. John holds a MA in Computer Resources Management from Webster University, plus a BA in Political Science and History from Marquette University. While at Marquette, John was a Congressional Intern. In addition, John is a graduate of the US Naval War College. John is currently enrolled in the SANS Technology Institute working toward his MSISM. He lives in Woodbridge, VA., where he serves as a Den Leader for his son's Cub Scout Pack in his spare time.
