Craig Bowser is an InfoSec professional with 18 years of experience in the field. He is a SANS Mentor for SEC555. He has worked as an Information Security Manager, Security Engineer, Security Analyst, and Information System Security Officer at the Departments of Defense, Justice, and Energy. Craig is a Christian, father, husband, geek, and scout leader who enjoys woodworking, sci-fi fantasy, home networking, tinkering with electronics, reading, and hiking. And he has a to-do list that is longer than the to-do time slots available.

Chris Crowley (@CCrowMontance), Senior Instructor, SANS Institute

Mr. Crowley has 15 years of industry experience managing and securing networks. He currently works as an independent consultant in the Washington, DC area focusing on effective computer network defense. His work experience includes penetration testing, security operations, incident response, and forensic analysis.Mr. Crowley is the course author for for SANS Management 517 - Managing Security Operations and SANS Management 535 - Incident Response Team Management. Russell Eubanks (@russelleubanks), SVP, CIO and CISO, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; Certified Instructor, SANS Institute
Russell Eubanks is Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He is responsible for developing and executing the Information Technology and Information Security strategies for the Atlanta Reserve Bank. Russell has developed information security programs from the ground up and actively seeks opportunities to measurably increase their overall security posture. Russell is a Handler with the SANS Internet Storm Center, serves on the Editorial Panel for the Critical Security Controls and maintains He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Cory Mazzola, Instructor, SANS Institute

Mr. Mazzola is an accomplished security executive with over twenty years of experience managing global cyber security centers, building enterprise risk management programs and leading distributed cross-functional teams. Currently, he is the Executive Director of Global Cyber Security Operations for a Fortune 500 firm with responsibilities for global Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, Digital Forensics, eDiscovery, Data Loss Prevention, Investigations, Engineering and SOC management.
Cory has served in leadership and advisory roles with many industry-leading organizations such as IBM, Verizon, General Dynamics, Computer Sciences Corporation, FireEye / Mandiant, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Amgen, University of Maryland and the Royal Bank of Canada. He’s managed national cyber security operations for the federal government in Washington D.C. as well as global cyber security incident response programs for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Department of Defense.
He is a regular contributor to multiple publications and guest speaker at industry events and international conferences. Cory holds a Master of Science in Information Assurance, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management and several leading industry certifications - GIAC/GPEN, CISSP, C|CISO, MCSE, etc. He also holds advanced degrees and certifications from Harvard University, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, Northwestern, Wharton, Norwich, University of Maryland and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

My-Ngoc Nguyen (@MenopN), CEO & Principal Consultant, Secured IT Solutions; Certified Instructor, SANS Institute

My-Ngoc Nguyen (pronounced Mee-Nop Wynn) is the CEO/Principal Consultant for Secured IT Solutions. She brings 20 years of experience in information systems and technology, with the past 15+ years focused on cyber security and information assurance for both the government and commercial sectors. My-Ngoc is highly experienced in IT security and risk methodologies, and in legal and compliance programs. She led a cyber security program under a federal agency for a highly-regulated, first-of-a-kind project of national importance. With that experience, she has been assisting client organizations in both public and private sectors to implement secure and compliant business processes and IT solutions using defense-in-depth and risk-based approaches. Along with a master's degree in management information systems, she carries top security certifications that include GSTRT, GSLC, GPEN, GCIH, CISSP, GSEC, GISF, and is a former QSA. She is a member of the FBI's InfraGard, the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC). My-Ngoc founded the non-profit organization CyberSafeNV to raise security awareness among Nevada residents and is currently the organization's chairperson.

John Pescatore, Director of Emerging Security Trends, SANS Institute

John Pescatore joined SANS in January 2013 with 35 years' experience in computer, network and information security. He was Gartner's Lead Security Analyst for 13 years, working with global 5000 corporations and major technology and service providers. Prior to joining Gartner Inc. in 1999, Pescatore was Senior Consultant for Entrust Technologies and Trusted Information Systems. Prior to that, Pescatore spent 11 years with GTE developing secure computing systems. Pescatore began his career at the National Security Agency, where he designed secure voice systems, and the United States Secret Service, where he developed secure communications and surveillance systems. He holds a BSEE from the University of Connecticut and is a NSA Certified Cryptologic Engineer.

Ismael Valenzuela @aboutsecurity, Senior Principal Engineer, McAfee; Certified Instructor & Author, SANS Institute

SANS Certified Instructor Ismael Valenzuela (@aboutsecurity) is coauthor of the CyberDefense and Blue Team Operations course, SANS SEC530: Defensible Security Architecture.
Since he founded one of the first IT Security consultancies in Spain, Ismael Valenzuela has participated as a security professional in numerous projects across the globe over the past 19 years.
As a top cybersecurity expert with strong technical background and deep knowledge of penetration testing, security architectures, intrusion detection and computer forensics, Ismael has provided security consultancy, advice and guidance to large government and private organizations, including major EU Institutions and US Government Agencies.
Prior to his current role as Senior Principal Engineer at McAfee, where he leads research on threat hunting using machine-learning and expert-system driven investigations, Ismael led the delivery of SOC, IR & Forensics services for the Foundstone Services team within Intel globally. Previously, Ismael worked as Global IT Security Manager for iSOFT Group Ltd, one of the world's largest providers of healthcare IT solutions, managing their security operations in more than 40 countries.
He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Malaga (Spain), is certified in business administration, and holds many professional certifications. These include the highly regarded GIAC Security Expert (GSE #132) in addition to GREM, GCFA, GCIA, GCIH, GPEN, GCUX, GCWN, GWAPT, GSNA, GMON, CISSP, ITIL, CISM, and IRCA 27001 Lead Auditor from Bureau Veritas UK.

Carson Zimmerman, Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) Engineering Team Lead, Microsoft

Carson Zimmerman is currently a Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) engineering team lead with Microsoft. He has worked in and around CSOCs for about 15 years, holding roles in the CSOC ranging from tier 1 analyst to architect. Previously with MITRE, Carson wrote "Ten Strategies of a World-Class Cybersecurity Operations Center," which can be downloaded for free at He received a BS in Computer Engineering from Purdue University and an MS in Information Systems from George Mason University.
