Catch and release: phishing techniques for the good guys

  • Jan Kopriva, SANS ISC Handler
  • Wednesday, June 17th, 8:15pm - 9:15pm

Since e-mail is the most common attack vector used by attackers, knowledge of effective phishing techniques is indispensable for penetration testers, red teamers and security professionals in general as well.

In this presentation we will go over the most effective phishing techniques used by attackers today and the methods to defeat them. We will also take a look at couple of techniques and tricks not yet used in the wild, which will allow us to get our messages past anti-phishing and anti-malware scans of e-mail security gateways.
