Security Dashboards - Metrics That Help You Manage Risk

Have you ever had a difficult time communicating your information security program success and needs to your executives? If so, plan to attend this hour long presentation on effective information security metrics, dashboards, and automated reporting. The security dashboard that will be demonstrated has changed the culture for one very large non-profit organization and it can help you build a plan to communicate important security metrics to your leadership in an effective and compelling way.
Speaker's Bio: Dean Sapp is a long time SANS student with 24 years of combined information security and IT experience. He is an information security practitioner and the Senior Information Security and Risk Manager for a large not-for-profit organization based in the Western states. He provides security consulting and risks management service for ten lines of business across different disciplines and is a leader in developing, evangelizing, and implementing cost effective and robust security programs. Dean has a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and is pursuing an MSISM degree from the SANS Technology Institute. He also owns a small security consulting company, IT Security Matters, LLC specializing in risk mitigation services for the legal vertical. In his free time, Dean enjoys Spartan Races, CrossFit, and other activities that are physically and mentally challenging.

The following bonus sessions are open to all paid attendees at no additional cost. There are many different types of events that fall into these categories:
- SANS@Night: Evening presentations given after day courses have ended. This category includes Keynotes.
- Special Events: SANS-hosted events and other non-technical recreational offerings. This category includes, but is not limited to, Receptions and Information Tables.
- Lunch & Learn: Short presentations given during the lunch break.
- Master's Degree Presentation: Presentations given by SANS Technology Institute's Master's Degree candidates.
