Automating Forensics Workflows Using AWS Technologies & Open Source

  • Kenneth G. Hartman
  • Monday, August 26th, 7:15pm - 8:15pm

There are certain activities that need to be repeated for every case, the same way every time. Why not apply DevOps principles and leverage cloud technologies? This talk demonstrates how to automate forensic analysis using the SIFT Workstation with an Infrastructure as Code approach. This includes processing of physical devices as well as AWS Elastic Block Storage (EBS) Volumes. All artifacts are saved in an Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) bucket, configured as Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) to maintain evidence integrity.
