The SANS360: The Security Crystal Ball

10 Speakers - 10 Presentations - 360 Seconds Each
SANS is known for its density of talented professionals in the field of Information Security, Penetration Testing, Auditing, and Digital Forensics and Incident Response. SANS2012 Faculty brings you the SANS360: The Security Crystal Ball, focusing on predictions for information security of tomorrow and into the next several years. Learn the thoughts from many of the leading experts in the community as they each share their ideas on what we will be dealing with in the future.
In one hour these information security experts will discuss the latest top security takeaways that they have identified over the past few months. If you have never been to a lightning talk, it is an eye opening experience. Each speaker has 360 seconds (6 minutes) to deliver their message. This format allows SANS to present 10 experts within one hour, instead of the standard one presenter per hour. The compressed format gives you a clear and condensed message eliminating the fluff. If the topic isn't engaging, a new topic is just 6 minutes away. Can a significant point be made within 360 seconds? The Gettysburg address can be read in about 180 seconds and the main section of Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech that is replayed is almost exactly 360 seconds. In many cases, the most important speeches are less than 360 seconds and have changed the world. This timed format ensures just enough time for each point, requiring a laser focus and forcing each presenter to discuss their most appealing and rich content to get their message heard.
The following bonus sessions are open to all paid attendees at no additional cost. There are many different types of events that fall into these categories:
- SANS@Night: Evening presentations given after day courses have ended. This category includes Keynotes.
- Special Events: SANS-hosted events and other non-technical recreational offerings. This category includes, but is not limited to, Receptions and Information Tables.
- Vendor: Events hosted by external vendor exhibitors.
- Lunch & Learn: Short presentations given during the lunch break.
