Tracking and Communicating About Threats: Intelligence for All

  • Robert M. Lee
  • Monday, December 3rd, 7:15pm - 9:15pm

A major portion of what we do as security professionals is face off against threats. There are resiliency discussions, risk in poorly handled vulnerability, and non-threat based discussions: but when we don the hat of "defender" it is in the face of the adversary and there is a fight to bad had. This presentation will cover how to think of threats, how to classify them, methods for tracking them such as the diamond model of intrusion analysis, methods of clustering their activity into threat actors or activity groups, and how to communicate about them to various decision makers from a board level down to the security operations analyst. This presentation will take an intelligence-driven approach to helping you track and communicate about threats effectively regardless of your security practitioner role.
