Blockchain: Building Better Business Models Securely

  • G. Mark Hardy
  • Monday, November 5th, 7:00pm - 8:00pm

"Blockchain as a technology has been proposed as a solution to everything from frictionless currency transfer to tracking cargo on ships. With over one billion dollars in venture funds invested and several hundred patents filed, every security professional must know the impact on organizations in terms of risk, volatility, and competitiveness.

This talk will explain blockchain technology, how it can do much more than cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and the basics of ""smart contracts."" We'll separate the hype from the fact, and look at the security implications of placing corporate information in an unalterable distributed ledger. Most importantly, we'll discuss how to identify business processes at your organization that can be improved or enabled by this technology (hint: if you just substitute blockchain for database, it's not a good fit).

Come explore the future of blockchain technology, and gain a working knowledge of how to provide a framework for utilizing and securing a technology considered as disruptive as the Internet was in the 1990s."
