OpenSCAP & Asset Defense, Practical Considerations for Health Care

  • Greg Porter
  • Wednesday, November 16th, 7:15pm - 8:15pm

Health care organizations will continue to be targeted by internal and external based adversaries for the foreseeable future. With breaches of unsecured protected health information plaguing the industry, technologists, compliance, and audit professionals face mounting enterprise and regulatory pressure. Unpatched or misconfigured systems serve as an easy mark for the attacker - identify these weaknesses before they do using OpenSCAP. OpenSCAP is an opensource tool for identifying patch deficiencies and validating system security configuration settings, something that can quickly enhance your HIPAA security assessment processes.

In this presentation, attendees will learn how OpenSCAP can identify both CVE and CCE based weaknesses, generate meaningful reporting details, and assist with remediation and audit activities.
