SANS Cyber Security Middle East Summit & Training 2019 Call for Presentations

The first SANS Cyber Security Middle East Summit & Training 2019 will be on the 4th of April, Abu Dhabi, at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel. This event will be the first in a series of SANS Summits to be held in the Middle East.

We welcome talks from an array of Cyber Security background. Talks can span offensive, defensive and forensic scenarios, though the review board is very keen on talks that have a practical element, or review a case study – such as handling an incident with a particularly difficult piece of non-file based malware.

It is reasonable to expect every member of the audience to have hands-on technical skills, not just to be familiar with the concepts.

If you are selected by the review board, a follow-up discussion will be arranged to validate your material. We will also review your technical and AV requirements to make your talk a success. There are presentation slots available of varying length to fit your content and speaking experience. We are extremely keen to foster new talent, and for those that are newer to public speaking, or could do with guidance, we have mentors available to help you refine your material and your delivery for maximum impact.

We understand that developing a talk and filling out proposal forms is time-consuming. We are highly dedicated to providing a phenomenal conference that will be a high point in your calendar for 2019 and we thank you for taking the time to submit.

Prospective presenters for the 2019 SANS Cyber Security Middle East should provide their submissions no later than Monday 31st December 2018.

Why Present at the Summit?

- Promotion of your speaking session and company recognition via the SANS Summit website, social media and all printed materials
- Access to a friendly, supportive environment to develop and enhance your public speaking skills.
- Complimentary pass to the 2019 Summit

SANS does not cover travel or hotel expenses for speakers, but we do reserve a block of rooms at a special rate. We also serve a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks on both Summit days.

What are some potential topics to present?

This summit is focused on real world experiences. We want to hear your stories (both successes and failures) about what you did, your action’s impact and how attendees can apply your lessons learned.
The talk submissions most likely to be selected are those focused on a specific topic that have a clear, easy to understand description, and have specific action items / learning objectives for attendees.

- Understanding what an attack against your organisation will look like (deconstructing real- world attacks and technical threats)
- Live attack demonstrations & the defences needed to stop them
- Case studies and success stories

- System and organizational investment opportunities that reduce attacker effects - Future attack vectors
- Mitigations - Defenders, governance, and controls

The deadline for all submissions is Monday 31st December 2018. All submissions must be made through our online form here -
