2020 Summit Steering Committee


The Steering Committee members are cybersecurity professionals from a wide variety of industries and backgrounds. They volunteer their time and expertise to consult with the SANS Summit team to ensure that every Summit delivers on the SANS Promise, providing experience-based information that is immediately actionable.


Craig Bowser @reswob10

Craig Bowser is an infosec professional with 18 years of experience in the field. He is a SEC555 Mentor for SANS. He has worked as a Information Security Manager, Security Engineer, Security Analyst and Information System Security Officer in DoD, DOJ and Dept of Energy areas. He has some letters that mean something to HR departments. He is a Christian, Father, Husband, Geek, Scout Leader who enjoys woodworking, sci-fi fantasy, home networking, tinkering with electronics, reading, and hiking. And he has a to do list that is longer the time to do slots that are open.


Jennifer Chavarria Reindl, GCIH, GRID @jennxxdcs

A proud alumna of The University of Texas at Austin and long-time Houstonian, Jennifer has spent her professional career in the Oil and Gas Industry. She has held roles from System Administration to Incident Response - experience she deems invaluable to finding her niche in Threat Hunting.

In her current role at Shell, she researches and hunts for adversary behaviors, and provides cyber defense support to ICS asset owners. Outside of work, Jennifer has served as an advisor for the SANS ICS Summit and presented at the SANS Threat Hunting and IR Summit. To unplug, she enjoys running with her fur babies and spending weekends at the lake with her husband.


Chris Cochran @chriscochrcyber

Chris Cochran is former active duty US Marine Intelligence. He currently leads threat intelligence for a premier entertainment company in Silicon Valley. Chris has dedicated his career to building advanced cybersecurity and intelligence capabilities for national-level governments and the private sector. Chris has made it his personal mission to motivate and empower cybersecurity professionals and teams through coaching, his podcast Hacker Valley Studio, and speaking engagements. His concern for the ever-growing cyber skill gap serves as a motivator for his desire to inspire the next generation of cyber warriors to take the helm.


Ronald Eddings @ronaldeddings

Ronald Eddings is a cybersecurity expert, blogger, and digital nomad based in Silicon Valley whose ingenuity, dedication, and ambition have earned him a reputation as a trusted industry leader. Over the course of his career, he has worked at various Fortune 500 companies and mentored a multitude of fellow professionals along the way. In addition to cybersecurity, he is well-versed in software development, DevOps, and artificial intelligence.


Jessica Hyde @B1N2H3X

Jessica Hyde is an experienced forensic examiner in both the commercial and government sectors. She is currently the Director of Forensics at Magnet Forensics and an Adjunct Professor teaching Mobile Forensics in the graduate programs at both Champlain College and George Mason University, where she achieved an MS in Computer Forensics. Her previous roles included performing forensic examinations as a Sr. Mobile Exploitation Analyst for Basis Technology, Senior at EY, and Senior Electrical Engineer at American Systems. Jessica is also proud to be a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.


InfoSteph @StephandSec

For her day job, InfoSteph serves as a regional information security analyst. Outside of work, however, InfoSteph has filled her life with all kinds of cool activities. She serves as a Lead for WoSEC Houston and a Lead for WISP DEFCON 2019. She has also started speaking at conferences this year. She co-hosts a "happy hour" inspired podcast called Coolest Nerds in the Room, where conversation surrounding the lives of tech people are nurtured. She attends school full time, hoping to obtain her Bachelor's by the end of the spring. She had the honor of being a delegate for Security Field Day 2 and Tech Field Day 20. She writes blog posts on her website, StephAndSec.com, which is also her side business. And she is working on a course for LinkedIn Learning on Social Engineering and Security Awareness. Stephanie recognizes those that inspired her or helped her get to where she is today and hopes that everything she does moving forward does the same for others.

Peter Kuzmiskas

Peter Kuzmiskas serves as a Vice President of Cyber Defense of Prudential's Information Security Office. He leads several global teams that are responsible for the following disciplines within Prudential's Information Security program: Cyber Security Operations Center, Vulnerability Management, Security Engineering and Operations, Identity and Access Management and Insider Risk Analytics.

Peter joined Prudential in 1995 and has been working in the Information Security Office for the last 18 years. He started with Prudential as a database / system administrator and worked on emerging technologies before joining the security team. He holds the SANS GMON certification. Peter received his B.S. in Computer Science from Trenton State College, now known as The College of NJ.


Tracy Z. Maleeff @InfoSecSherpa

Tracy Z. Maleeff is an Information Security Analyst for The New York Times Company. She earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a SANS GIAC GSEC certification. Tracy is an active member of the InfoSec community and frequently shares her expert knowledge through her OSINT blog and InfoSec newsletter, in addition to Twitter. She is a frequent presenter on a variety of topics and has given talks at DEF CON's Recon Village, Derby Con, and several BSides events. A native of the Philadelphia area, she lives and dies with its sports teams.


Kyle Maxwell @kylemaxwell

Kyle Maxwell is a product manager with decades of experience as a practitioner in incident response and network security investigations. He currently manages feature development for iDefense IntelGraph as well as external partner integrations. Additionally, he has written or contributed to several open source projects such as Maltrieve and Combine.

He has contributed to a number of public reports on data breach analysis and frequently speaks at conferences about the practice and application of cyber threat intelligence. Previously, he led the incident response team at a large payment processor and performed digital forensics for clients across the United States at several private investigation firms. Mr. Maxwell speaks fluent Spanish and holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Dallas.


Christina Morillo @divinetechygirl

Christina is an information security and technology professional with a background in cloud technologies, enterprise security, and identity engineering. By day, she works as a Senior Program Manager on the Azure identity engineering product team at Microsoft. Christina advocates and is passionate about empowering women and underrepresented folks to follow careers in security and technology and creating opportunities for others. When she is not spending time with her family, you can find her co-leading Women in Security and Privacy's NYC chapter and supporting others as an advisor and mentor. She lives in New York City with her husband and children.

Xena is a cyber threat intelligence analyst in the financial services industry. A graduate of SANS Women's Academy with 6 GIAC certifications, an MBA IT Management, and a doctoral student in cybersecurity at Marymount University.




Brooke Pearson

Brooke Pearson manages the Security Training & Awareness team at Uber. Prior to joining Uber, she ran information security awareness programs at Facebook, as well as public policy programs. Prior to that, she worked in public diplomacy for the U.S. Department of State, managing the Fulbright educational exchange program with Afghanistan and Central Asia. Her alma maters include George Washington University and Azusa Pacific University, and she lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her partner and mini schnauzer. V. Susan Peediyakal @v33na

With over 15 years of cybersecurity experience, focused primarily in Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), V. Susan Peediyakkal draws on her significant knowledge from working with various intelligence operations in the federal government and international commercial domains. Susan has been a part founding many new CTI programs for the United States Postal Service (USPS), the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the US Courts. Most recently, she was a Lead Consultant in Booz Allen Hamilton's Commercial Cyber Defense Program where she focused on helping their clients establish and cultivate industry-leading threat intelligence programs. She is currently working on her CISO certification at Carnegie Mellon University.

Susan has served over 18 years in the US Air Force (active and reserve), the founder and co-director for BSides Sacramento (www.BSidesSac.org), coordinating staff for The Diana Initiative, and supports the Women's Society of Cyberjutsu. She serves on the board for Mental Health Hackers as the Chief Wellness Officer, EC-Council's Global Advisory Board for Certified Threat Intelligence Analysts, and was part of the inaugural Advisory Board for the SANS Purple Team Summit. In March 2018, she was named one of "10 Women in Security You May Not Know But Should" by one of the most widely-read cybersecurity news sites on the Web, Dark Reading.

Susan is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and enjoys teaching yoga in her free time. Loves: traveling extensively, concerts, cooking, and mentoring junior analysts in Cyber.


Cat Self @coolestcatiknow

Cat started her career as a developer implementing and designing a metric to evaluate the security posture of technology products, known as the Product Intelligence Score (patent pending). She transitioned to the red team, implementing APT techniques and learning the value of being offensive. She now works as a threat hunter at Target, continuing to specialize in offensive security. She previously served in Military Intelligence with the U.S. Army, including two combat deployments.

Huascar is Co-Founder & CEO of F2TC Cyber Security. He is a recognized cybersecurity expert with over 15 years of experience in security research, penetration testing, software development, Linux kernel hacking, networking, and telecommunications.
