The Vendor Partnership
The SANS Summit Series differs from other SANS programs in that their success stems from a strong partnership between SANS and the Vendor. Vendors work hand-in-hand with the SANS Summit Series team creating events which provide attendees with answers to their most difficult issues and obstacles in key security topics.
Vendors offer strategic customers to participate in the Summit user-to-user discussion panels. Ideally, prospective customer panelists have completed or are in the process of developing the Summit-focus strategy. Prospective panelists have a brief meeting with SANS so we can learn their story and determine how they would best fit in the Summit program. Once accepted, customer panelists are asked to provide a short (7 minute) slide presentation and take part in the Q&A discussions during their assigned panel discussion.
Marketing the Summit to the public is a partnership effort as well. SANS markets Summit events through normal SANS channels using e-mail, the SANS website, newsletters, and other means. Vendor partners market the SANS Summit to their prospects via e-mails, website links, newsletters, User Groups and Blogs.
Providing user speakers and executing joint marketing are the only requirements for partnership in the Summit program.
Additionally, Vendor partners may be invited to be part of the actual Summit Program as part of a Vendor Panel. Every effort is made to include all Vendor partners. However, due to logistics limitations this many not be possible.
To reap the most benefits from the SANS/Vendor Partnership, Vendors may also sign up for Summit Sponsorships. With sponsorship you have access to Summit attendees in a variety of ways.
