New Cutting Edge Security Courses from SANS
Every day in our world, things change around information technology and its security. With that,
there are whole factions of the bad guys out there keeping up with those changes (inventing plenty
of their own). Some practice their ill will and malice with intent, some are simply taking advantage
of opportunity, and some are making a decision based on vengeance. Whatever the reason, it takes
legions of good guys to ensure the safety and security of systems everywhere.
To help those of you who are among those legions of good, The SANS Institute has been working since 1989 on
delivering the highest quality, most effective, most useful courses available, in coordination with
the brightest minds in the industry. Whether you have had the benefit of experiencing
SANS courses or are new to the SANS site, we invite you to bookmark this page and visit it often, as
we'll be updating it regularly with new course announcements and their details. Regardless of your
budgetary, travel, or time issues, we hope you'll take the time to examine not only these great new
upcoming courses, but our full listing of courses and their delivery options.
Don't see what you are looking for anywhere on the SANS website? Do you have an idea for a great new
course? Is there a topic or subject that you would like to see SANS offer? If so, please contact
Elizabeth Estabrooks, Director of Courseware Development, at lestabrooks@sans.org.
Within three months of the completion of a new course, you may hear about its
debut. A debut is simply the first time a course is run - sort of like opening night at a play. It
is also a great opportunity for students to take a new SANS security course at half the price. While all our
security courses are in prime shape when they make it to the field, we want to take the extra step to make
sure that it's the best it can be. To do that, our evaluation process is even more stringent for
debuts than for tested courses.
Because we value student input and believe that your eyes, ears, and experience can only contribute
to improving our efforts, we take the debut class seriously and ask students to give us more intense
feedback on what works, what doesn't, what should stay, and what should go. This in no way
interferes with your quality classroom experience, but it does help guarantee that we've taken that
extra step to ensure that our security courses are always of the highest quality. So, if you see a security course
debuting in your area and you want to not only take advantage of the lower cost but also use your
experience to guide course improvement, we hope you'll register and share your ideas, thoughts, and
suggestions with us.
