Dear Colleagues and Friends,
SANS is back in beautiful San Diego for SANS 2007! This year we bring you our largest training event to date featuring our full course catalog complete with new course offerings, action-packed night sessions, and additional special events. We listened to your requests to host San Diego in the downtown area, and this year we'll be right on the water surrounded by some of the best restaurants, shops, and amazing views that you will find anywhere! Bring the family down for spring break to enjoy the city while you are in class, or plan a vacation before or after SANS 2007 as a breather from our intensive, top-notch training.
SANS 2007 will be held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt which is the largest waterfront hotel on the West Coast. The guest rooms and our meeting space along with pools, spas, and the restaurants have views of a full service marina and breathtaking bay views of the city. As an extra treat, if you book under the special SANS rate, you will receive complimentary high speed Internet with your room. However, make sure to book with our special group on-line reservation system or mention SANS when calling since complimentary high speed Internet is not available to the general public. You can also book special club and business level rooms which feature special upgrades, free breakfast, cocktails, health club, and complimentary access to an office area.
There's really no need to rent a car in San Diego since even the airport is only a 10-15 minute taxi ride away from the Hyatt and the best of the city will then be at your fingertips! Right outside the hotel doors is Seaport Village with world class restaurants (even fast food ones) and shops right on the water. Down the street from the hotel is the brand new San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum along with displays of other world famous ships at the San Diego Maritime Museum. You will also want to check out the Gaslamp District featuring unique shops and exotic restaurants from the Victorian era. The San Diego Trolley across the street provides access to Tijuana, Mexico, Fashion Valley, Mission Valley shopping centers, and Old Town.
This dynamic city also offers such world class attractions as Balboa Park which includes the San Diego Zoo, one of the best locations in the world to see rare, exotic animals you can't find anywhere else. The rest of Balboa Park is also well worth a visit to enjoy the beauty of its extensive gardens while exploring one of the largest complexes of museums west of the Mississippi!
Please remember to bring a light jacket as evening temperatures in San Diego can fall into the 60's, especially with the breeze blowing in from the Bay. SANS' social board will feature nightly events and get-togethers for students interested in exploring all that San Diego has to offer. You might also want to check out the city's official website at http://www.sandiego.org. Please drop by on-site or feel free to send me an email at Brian@sans.org if I can offer any additional ideas or tips to make sure you have the best time possible at SANS 2007!
We look forward to seeing you in San Diego,
Brian Correia
