GIAC Announces New Certification for Penetration Testing
The new certification, GPEN, will test the competencies of penetration testing and supports SANS hottest selling course, Security 560, Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking which has sold out every time it has been offered. According to course author, Ed Skoudis a founder of consulting firm IntelGuarians who are widely considered on of the most skilled penetration testing firms in the country, "Lots of people claim to have penetration testing, ethical hacking, and security assessment skills, but precious few can apply these skills in a methodical regimen of professional testing to help make an organization more secure." This certification assesses the students mastery of the ingredients for successful network penetration testing to help attendees improve their enterprise's security stance.
"We assess detailed pre-test planning, including setting up an effective penetration testing infrastructure and establishing ground rules with the target organization to avoid surprises and misunderstanding", adds Jeff Frisk, director of the certification. "Even now, the exam is under development and if you are an industry expert in penetration testing and want to be involved, feel free to contact me." Emily Sturnick, the GIAC question POC agrees, we have over one hundred questions reviewed with more in the pipeline.
