Owen Crow
Owen began his career at 13, when he landed a job in the first computer store in his hometown and he's never looked back! He earned his degree in Computer Engineering, but found his greatest joy and talents well suited in the area of computer security. His current employer originally hired him to serve as a Unix Administrator, however, it wasn't long before he joined the newly formed Information Security team. Owen has led this SANS Security Essentials course twice previously, as a SANS mentor, in Houston. Owen wants his students to know that he enjoys teaching and extending patience for those who need more time to understand the concepts involved.

He develops applications and appliances for broadcast radio, Internet, and satellite devices. James also contributes to the FreeBSD project and is a port maintainer. He presents at various security and IT conferences, is a courseware contributor, and is actively involved in the COINS program.
