SANS Partnership Series for EDUs, State & Local Governments
The OnSite program allowed many of our members to attend that have had restrictions on out of state travel. All who attended appreciated the lower cost of travel compared to the larger cities where SANS events are hosted.
- Randy Raw, Manager, Network Security, University of Missouri.
Security Awareness, Training and Education are still the best-return-on-investment for your security program and SANS is the strategy to meet that goal/objective...
- Stan Gatewood, UGA Chief Information Security Officer.

What is the SANS Partnership Series?
The SANS Partnership Series is an outreach program created to provide deeply discounted training to support constituencies that have:
- A clear impact on national security
- Large numbers of information security practitioners
- Budget constraints that limit access to necessary training
Current eligible critical constituencies include:
- Educational Institutions
- State & Local Government & Law Enforcement
- Developing Nations/International Partners to the US
The secret to this successful program is cost reduction realized by delivering the courses to large classes (75+ is ideal).

Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC)
What is IVC?
Per the University of Idaho: "Interactive Videoconferencing (IVC) is an effective tool that may be used in distance education settings. This system can be integrated into the distance education program with minimal adaptation to the curriculum and course and is designed to support two-way video and audio communication between multiple locations." For more details, visit (http://www.uidaho.edu/eo/dist10.html).
How do we get involved?
To join any of SANS' currently scheduled IVC classes as a "Remote Host Site," you will need to guarantee a minimum of 10 students for each class. To get started, simply contact Daryl Gilbertson at DGilbertson@sans.org or 678-714-5712.
Currently Scheduled IVC Classes:
- SEC422 :: Web Application Security Essentials (formerly SEC522)
- Date: Monday, January 12th, 2009 - Wednesday, January 14th, 2009
Registration: Register as a student/participant at an existing remote site
To opt into our IVC classes as a Remote Host Site, contact contact Daryl Gilbertson at DGilbertson@sans.org or 678-714-5712.
The SANS Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC) program provides an efficient way to deliver a SANS class to a large number of people at remote locations all over the world. It provides real-time audio/visual interaction between the students and the instructor. This ability to converse with the instructor directly enhances the teaching environment. It's a great program for companies who want to take advantage of the SANS training but who don't have large travel budgets to send their staff to an event.
