Dear Colleagues,
In reply to the overwhelmingly positive response to the survey that we initiated in April, I am delighted to inform you that SANS will be coming to Oslo to teach two courses on 18-23 September 2006.
The classes being taught are:
SEC503: Intrusion Detection In-Depth with Jess Garcia as your instructor. In this course Jess will teach you how to deploy all the pieces required to secure a network in today's hostile environment. He will cover packet filters, firewalls, defense-in-depth, VPNs, and network design and assessment. This is a fantastic course for auditors and consultants, and it prepares you for the GCIA certification.
SEC504: Hacker Techniques, Exploits & Incident Handling with Arrigo Triulzi as your instructor. Arrigo will show you how to detect malicious code and respond on the fly. You'll learn how your networks appear to hackers, how they gain access with special emphasis on the newer attack vectors, and what they do when they get in - especially in manipulating the system to hide their work. Master the proven six-step process of incident handling so you are prepared to be the technical leader of the incident handling team. This course prepares you for GCIH certification.
Telenor in Fornebu has kindly agreed to make their auditoriums available to host the classes. Their cooperation in the delivery of this new initiative is very much appreciated and a large factor in allowing us to deliver two of SANS' leading courses during this, our first trip to Oslo.
I look forward to seeing you in Oslo in September. Once again I wish to thank all of you who helped in making this event a reality. I would not have been able to get this event organised without the kind help from you all. I now want to turn the attention to making the training event a success so that SANS can make this visit to Norway an annual event.
So register today to join me in Oslo! If you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
John Fitzgerald
