Eric Conrad
Eric's career began in 1991, as a Unix sysadmin for a small oceanographic communications company. He gained experience in a variety of industries, including research, education, power, internet, healthcare, and has worked with companies such as Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs, Boston University, The Open Group, Navipath, and Caritas Christi Health Care. He is now an independent information security consultant focusing on intrusion detection, incident handling, and penetration testing. Currently, a contributing author to SANS HIPAA Security Implementation, he holds the GPEN, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GAWN and CISSP certifications. Eric shares, "I enjoy mentoring others and would like to be more involved with my community and SANS.
James Purcell
Jim is currently a Senior Security Consultant with Sword & Shield Enterprise Security based in Knoxville Tennessee. Jim has over twenty years experience in all aspects of information technology including IT security, systems management, systems analysis and design, and networking. Jim has experience deploying security infrastructure systems and performing security assessments in large enterprises as well as small businesses. Jim has a BS in business and holds the SANS GSEC Gold, SANS GCIH Gold, CISSP, PMP, and MCSE certifications. Jim is SANS Technical Director and Community SANS instructor and mentor. Jim has taught several SANS courses over the last couple of years. Jim enjoys the interaction among the students as they share knowledge and experiences on the road to becoming certified security professionals.
