Dear Colleagues,

SANS is coming to Minneapolis to offer Security 401: SANS Security Essentials on Monday, July 31 through Saturday, August 5, 2006. The course will be led by Minneapolis area resident and network security specialist Rex Robitschek. Rex has led this course for SANS four previous times, most recently this past December in Savage, MN.

Registration is limited to 24 students, and the earlier you register, the more you will save off the regular tuition fee of $3,065. This small course format has sold out in Philadelphia, Columbia, St. Louis, and Ottawa several weeks prior to each event's start date. So if you are interested, I encourage you to register as soon as possible!

In SANS Security Essentials you will learn the language and underlying theory of computer security. At the same time you will learn the essential, up-to-the-minute knowledge and skills required for effective performance if you are given the responsibility for securing systems and/or organizations. This course covers the defense in-depth strategy, various security devices and tools, and the most significant network vulnerabilities.

If your organization has a disgruntled employee, your networks are vulnerable. This leaves you as a security professional vulnerable to the question from your management, "Why didn't you know about these vulnerabilities? If you did know, why didn't you do anything about them to correct the situation and mitigate the organization's risk?"

Here is your chance to do that "something." Security 401 includes ten hours of hands-on bootcamp-style labs in which you will work with more than twenty open source security tools to help you in your job. And SANS promises that you will be able to use what you learn in this class as soon as you return to your office.

Best-in-class course material, a great practitioner/instructor, loads of hands-on exercises and a small class size to make sure you get the individual attention you need to learn the most in six days - does this sound like the kind of training that would help you to be more effective in your job? Then click on the yellow Register Now button above, and register today for SANS Minneapolis 2006! In fact, if you know someone else that would benefit from this type of technical, hands-on training, drop them an email so that they can attend too!

SANS hopes to see you in Minneapolis this summer!

Warm regards,
Stephen Northcutt
