Rosalia started off her career in Information Systems maintenance during her time the U. S Navy. She attended a specialty C school that taught her about Networking and maintenance. She spent the next 7.5 years honing her skills on Unix/Linux legacy systems, Cisco switches/routers, Xylan/Alcatel switches and Windows based servers. She also became a subject matter expert in mobile communications platforms in support of expeditionary units. Her time there consisted of building mobile Information suites from the ground up using satellite links for IP and voice traffic. As a subject matter expert she was also in charge of creating and teaching basic security courses on crypto and incident handling. She has since left the U. S. Navy active duty and is now a Network Security Analyst for a mid-sized company as well as an active reservist. As an analyst she conducts forensic investigations, network analysis, data loss prevention, vulnerability assessments, network security audits, and suggests firewall changes based on emerging threats. She provides guidance on security related incidents and information assurance. As a reservist she is in charge of the training and qualification of unit members in the area of communications security as well as responsible for the units Communications Security account (COMSEC). Rosalia has obtained her Network +, Security +, GSEC, and is working on her CCNA certification and Bachelors in Science in Information Systems, Networking, and Telecommunications with an emphasis in Information Assurance.She is passionate about information security and is excited to be able to mentor the GIAC Security Essentials Certification course.
