Richard first worked with computers in 1960 at the University of Washington and ran his own software company in the 1980's. In 1994 he took a phone tech support position with a local ISP, and by 1996 was Senior Systems Administrator for Adhost Internet LLC, a company specializing in commercial website hosting. He attended his first SANS conference in 1997 in San Francisco, and currently holds a GIAC Incident Handling certificate. He remains at Adhost where he is responsible for maintaining and improving the main DNS, Email, and Stats servers as well as programming and scripting most of the internal GUI's for staff use. These days he specializes in perl and PHP, but has programmed in many languages including FORTRAN, C, machine language, AREXX, and many others. He looks forward to sharing his experience and knowledge in a SANS approved setting.
