Liam is an Information Security Officer at the University of California, Berkeley and has more than 15 years experience in Information Technology, focusing on information security and risk over the past decade. Prior to coming to Berkeley, Liam held team lead and management roles at Global Fortune 50 organizations in the Financial Services and Telecommunications industries in a wide range of information security disciplines including incident response and investigations, security operations, application security, threat intelligence, governance, risk management and compliance.
Liam's expertise relates to working with organizations to assess their security and risk posture and consulting on how to incorporate industry best practices, standards and frameworks that are in line with their overall organizational vision and strategic initiatives ensuring that they have the right blend of trained and competent people, mature processes and technologies used to protect their information assets.
A strong passion for continuous professional improvement and lifelong learning has led him down the path of achieving several information security certifications, including GCIH, GSEC, GCFA, GISP, GCIA, GREM, CRISC and CISSP. He has developed course materials for and taught several information security training courses to hundreds of his colleagues and continues to bolster an extreme enthusiasm for helping others achieve their educational and professional goals.
