David Herrald is passionate about information security and about sharing security skills and knowledge with others. David has over 18 years of IT experience and has focused primarily on information security for the last 8. David spent over 6 years working as the information security officer for a payments processing company where he was responsible for security architecture, security system engineering, security monitoring, incident response, compliance, awareness training, and integrating security into the software development lifecycle. David is based in Denver, Colorado where he now works as an information security consultant for a wide range of enterprise and federal clients. Recent projects include use case development for advanced security analysis using Hadoop for a large financial industry client as well as performing network and web application vulnerability assessments and penetration tests. David holds a BS in Computer Science from Iowa State University as well as many industry certifications including GIAC GSEC, GIAC GCIH, GIAC GPEN, CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSK, and ITIL Foundation.
