SANS Survey of IT Security in Health Care Part II: About the Data

  • Wednesday, 18 Dec 2013 1:00PM EST (18 Dec 2013 18:00 UTC)
  • Speakers: Barbara Filkins, Geoff Schwartz

The 2013 Inaugural SANS Healthcare Security Survey revealed that organizations place faith in perimeter defenses as the major strategy for securing the enterprise when the biggest concern these organizations have is the human already inside the perimeter. The two major computing trends for the healthcare industry -- mobile and cloud -- only compound this false sense of security with more access to data across an undefined perimeter.

Building on the results of this survey, our speakers, Barb Filkins, SANS Analyst, and Oracle's Geoff Schwartz, will discuss how to approach information security from the inside of the enterprise out. Attend this webcast and learn how to address key issues raised in the survey, including:

  • What is the most valuable data attackers are after (note it all has to do with
  • financial payout) and where its located
  • How a framework of trust around data supplants perimeter defenses
  • Balancing security with compliance in and out of the cloud
  • How can effective security play into the clinical workflow
  • And what about the security issues around healthcare.gov
