Dear Colleague,
SANS is excited to be coming to one of Europe's most vibrant and exciting cities for the first time in March. After much encouragement from the Danish InfoSec community, SANS will bring Jess Garcia to teach his signature System Forensics, Investigation & Response class. This event will be held at the PwC Academy, SANS' marketing partner in Denmark. Our objective is to turn this first trip to Copenhagen into an annual event if we discover that the Community finds this training useful.
Did you know that SANS faculty members are the winners of an eleven-year competition designed to identify the best teachers in the security field? More than 900 people have tried out for positions on the SANS faculty; fewer than 30 have been selected. Jess and the rest of the faculty really are the "Top Guns" of Information Security!
More than 60,000 Security Professionals worldwide have used SANS' educational programs to prepare for positions of responsibility in protecting critical information systems. SANS' intensive immersion training is designed to ensure that you are prepared to perform your job more effectively. And because SANS courses are all designed to be entirely vendor neutral you can return to your job confident that the training will be instantly applicable. That is the SANS promise!
All SANS courses prepare students for the GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification) exam. A certification is proof an individual meets a minimum standard. GIAC's mission goes beyond this. It is to provide assurance to employers that their people and prospective hires can actually do the job. It is a test of competency. GIAC does this by going beyond theory and terminology and testing the pragmatics of audit, security, operations and management tasks. A study released by the Gartner Group predicted that "security certification will be required of 40 percent of personnel having day-to-day technical operations responsibility" and that "the GIAC certification will likely become the preferred credential."
I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet you or one of your colleagues at SANS Copenhagen 2007. Please contact me if I can answer any questions that you might have about SANS or the event.
Very Best Wishes,
John Fitzgerald
Director of European Programs
